Mistelteinn, a magic sword, may have caused Balder's death in original versions of the Norse sagas; the mistletoe plant is unknown in Iceland.

Also, Rob Balder will be sharing a booth with Tarol Hunt in the Exhibitor Hall, where they will have a variety of merchandise from their respective comics as well as a nice pile of OOTS books that I've sent along.
Removing the official schedule probably won’t affect the comic’s frequency much, but it will remove the additional stress when I’m unable to meet the three-times-a-week deadline (and removing stress is a good thing, according to my doctor).
Well, Phil is now posting some of those comics at philanddixie.com, so if you have any interest in gazing back to yesteryear to see one of the influences that helped shape OOTS, you can do so now for free.

Norse Mythology in Comic Books   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-17)
True to his mythological foundation, the comic book Thor was not what one might consider a "quick study." The Son of Odin, though overflowing with bravery and determination, lacked the intelligence and wit to save himself from dastardly plans in both the myths and in the comics.
Throughout the history of this comic character, Odin has had a reputation as being a hard deity to please; the dual nature of his personality (his opportunities to be both fatherly and a harsh disciplinarian) is as prominent in modern appearances as it was in the Norse myths.
Balder's role is supported by Marvel's adaptation of the actual myth; Balder the Brave is very much unafraid of combat, because his mother Frigga has already acquired the promise of all things not to harm her son, save for the mistletoe.

One would expect a teenaged Thunder God to have more of a temper, not less, but Thor is more disappointed than outraged at his inability to lift Mjolnir, and his attitude towards Loki, both before and after the spider attack, is almost ridiculously calm.
Balder comes off far worse - he's more a cipher than a character - and Sif is just the latest in a long line of feminist female warriors with sharp tongues, with nothing else to truly distinguish her.

Creators of comics with mass appeal take a lot of unfair flack for the collective behavior (or misbehavior) of their readers.
Until and unless your comic reaches a level at which mass appeal is a factor, then appeal is going to be the driving force of your readership growth.
But it is the appeal of your comic which will ultimately form the curve of your readership growth.
