Stefansson told her that he refused to recognize Alex as his son both because his lawyers advised him to do so and because he was not the only member of the expedition who had sex with Pannigabluk.
Stefansson was a controversial figure and his style of leadership as well as his cultural relativism, emphasizing the necessity and the charm of flowing with the rhythms and demands of the "friendly Arctic," annoyed many of his fellow travelers and competitors, including Anderson.
Stefansson has little to say about his relations with Pannigabluk and her ethnographic contribution, although, clearly, she was not just "around." Pannigabluk was presented as primarily a domestic worker, with no formal recognition of her role as either spouse, partners, or key informant.

Baldur STEFANSSON and R.K. jointly identified the first low erucic plants in rape (Brassica napus).
J.M. Bell and D.R. Clandinin did much of the early feeding studies to establish the nutritional superiority of canola meal; B.M. Craig, C. Youngs, and R.L. Wetter developed the analytical techniques which permitted the breeding for canola quality, and J.K.G. Kramer and F. Saurer established the nutritional superiority of the low-erucic acid oil.
Stefansson and Downey were both awarded the Royal Bank Award in recognition of their contributions to developing canola.

Professor Baldur R. Stefansson has made major contributions to the development of canola over a period of more than 30 years.
It is mainly due to his influence and vision that oilseed rape has been transformed from a marginal edible oilseed covering 2.7 million hectares in 1950 to a leading oilseed crop in the world today covering in excess of 27 million hectares.
Stefansson has been one of the first to apply modern chemical analytical tools to monitor the composition of fatty acids of the canola oil, and thus to rapidly recognize and follow the development of new fatty acid compositions.

If you do not use the same vowel sound in "caught" as in "court", then you are one of the North American speakers who use [O] only before [r]: you do not round your lips for "all" and "caught", and you should use some other symbol, such as [A] or [a], to transcribe the vowel.
Linking "r" differs from French liaison in that the former happens in any phonetically appropriate context, whereas the latter also needs the right syntactic context.

Insect Pests of Canola - Weiss et al.
The oil from oilseed rape has been used for greater than two millennia as lamp oil, industrial lubricant, and more recently, as edible oil.
The transformation to edible oil was accomplished when Keith Downey and Baldur Stefansson in Canada identified a natural occurring mutation that produced a seed-oil that was low in glucosinolates and the fatty acid, euric acid.
Oil and subsequent meal with high levels of glucosinolates and euric acid reduces palatability and/or are toxic to some animals, and euric acid has been shown to be a potential health hazard to humans.
