A somewhat similar scheme was applied to the switchers.
SP changed their system a couple of times, starting with the first deliveries of diesel switchers, these were designated DES, which I assume stands for Diesel Electric Switcher, this was later shortened to DS.

Alco rolled out two "catalog model" switchers in April 1940: the S 1 was a non-turbo charged 660-hp unit and the top-of-the-line unit was the 1,000-hp S2.
Switchers operate at low speeds and don't run up the miles like road locomotives, so they usually last a long time.

Scot WC #800 dosen't appear to have the grids/grill work on the side of the hood in front of the cab.
I remember the LV switchers operating on the Easton and Northern branch behind my grandparents' place in West Easton when I was a kid...I could see them from the back yard.

 Switching back to Panther - The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)
Well, being a recent switcher (although, I've used Panther extensively) I can tell you that I've had a few issues here and there.
However, they're nothing compared to the problems I've had in the past, present, and I'm sure future with Windows.
Tiger's still heaps better than Panther (which I was happy with) but I'm afraid I depend on iDisk on three Macs being in sync.
