Ballydehob (Béal Átha an dá Chab in Irish, meaning "The ford at the mouth of two rivers") is a village in County Cork, Ireland.
Ballydehob is a microcosm of Irish local history and legends and folklore abound in the locality.
Ballydehob was the centre stop for the Schull to Skibbereen Light railway, which was opened in 1886 by the West Carberry Light Railways and Tramway Company and closed in 1947 by CIÉ.

Ballydehob Community Council and Community Alert was formed in 1993 to help promote the interests of Ballydehob and surrounding area, it is involved in many areas of local interest, including most recently the Twinning of Ballydehob with the French town of Cleden Cap Sizun.
Ballydehob Community Council is affiliated to the National Organisation called "Muinti na Tire" which was founded in 1931 by Cannon Hayes of Tipperary for self help and self reliance of communities in rural Ireland.

After an absence of twenty years, Professional Wrestling is returning to the Community Hall in Ballydehob, County Cork on Sunday November 13th to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of local boy Danno Mahony's win over Ed Don George to become the undisputed World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion.
Danno brought glory to Ireland in 1935 when he defeated George after one hour and twenty eight minutes to win the title and the $10,000 diamond-studded championship belt at the Braves Field in Boston, Massachusetts.
Back in 1985 for the 50th Anniversary celebrations, only two matches were featured and the wrestlers (which included Tony St Clair) participated in a parade from The Irish Whip (Danno's famous speciality hold) pub through the town to the hall led by a brass band.
