  Ballyduff (Upper)
Ballyduff is approximately the ancient parish of Mocollop, which latter seems to have been absorbed into, or united with Lismore at a very early period.
In 1954 a new burial ground was purchased in a beautiful spot in Scartnacrooha and this now serves as the sold cemetery in use since the County Council banned the use of the Old Cemetery in Mocollop due to use beyond natural capacity.
Fr Richard Lane who had been the curate in Ballyduff for several years was made parish priest and was the last parish priest to serve with a curate (Fr John Kiely) before the parish reverted to a single priest parish.

On their way to the final, Ballyduff defeated Kenmare/St. Pats in the first round, Abbeydorney in the quarter-final and Crotta O’Neills in the semi-final.
Ballyduff last won the Neilius Flynn Cup in 1995 when they defeated Ballyheigue in the final of that year which completed their three in a row of County Championship titles in the 1990s.
Ballyduff won four, 1991 and the three in a row 1993-1995.

Harry Joe had further success with Ballyduff in '57, '59 and '60 while Neilus Carmody was also a member of the 1959 side.
A centenary Final defeat to Ballyduff in 1984 was followed by another County Title in 1987.

Nestled in the foothills of the Knockmealdown Mountains in picturesque Blackwater Valley,the village of Ballyduff has been home to Ballyduff Upper GAA Club since it's foundation in 1886.Our club has a long and proud tradition in Waterford GAA history.
Ballyduff was one of the few clubs playing hurling in the county at that time and although it was not until the 1980s that a first Senior Hurling County title was won the club had appeared in two senior hurling finals in the early 1900s in 1905 and again in 1912.
Over the years many individuals and families have built upon these foundations, to develop and nurture the games of hurling and football and indeed the great pride and spirit which is synonymous of the Ballyduff club and its community today.

At Ballyduff, take either the north or south road along the Blackwater to the Cork border; the south road is often best but better views of the swans can be had from the north road if they are near the river bank.
There are well-developed birch and oak woodlands in the tributary valleys of the Blackwater around Lismore and south of Cappoquin, on both sides of the estuary, with their associated plant and animal communities.

 Ballyduff Walking Club
We are a group of 30 walkers all from the Ballyduff area who get together once every two weeks.
While we are serious walkers, we also enjoy our days out and can be seen in various places such as picnicking by the roadside, enjoying the local public-house atmosphere or struggling to reach the summit of the Galtee Mountains!!
To date we have identified eight local walking routes centered in the Ballyduff area which range from easy to moderate with some more challenging walks with reasonable gradient.
