A DEAD-HEAT overpowered the GAA grounds in Ballyhaunis on Sunday evening, making conditions draining for players, and perhaps it was no surprise that this was a championship match that over-heated among the players with an unsightly incident spoiling the fare.
It took only 13 seconds for Ballyhaunis to get their game on track when a quick break from midfield allowed Paul Prenty claim his first of many points on the day.
A second Ballyhaunis goal came within minutes of the first, again an unmarked John Prenty claimed the honours bringing his tally for the day to 2-4.

The town of Ballyhaunis was the scene of a novel launch last week when fitted with cardiac emergency equipment that can improve a heart attack victim’s survival chances by up to 70%.
The Supervalu supermarket in the town, in conjunction with the local Croí Friends Ballyhaunis and District Committee, installed a LifePak Defibrillator to deal with cardiac emergencies, a move that also saw six staff members of the shop undergo a training program in the equipment’s use.
Research has shown that less than 1% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests survive, but US studies have shown that with the availability of a defibrillator, used by a trained individual, survival rates of 40%-70% can be achieved.
