The robberies took place at the AIB branch in Naas and Bank of Ireland in Ballymahon.
In Naas, a lone raider who was armed escaped with a sum believed to be in the region of €4,000.
Meanwhile in Co Longford, the Bank of Ireland in Ballymahon was raided by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

With an area of 1,091 km² (421 square miles) and a population of 34,361, it is one of Ireland's smallest counties.
In general, the northern third of the county is hilly, forming part of the drumlin belt stretching across the northern midlands of Ireland.

The cancelled books for the 26 counties are held in Dublin in the Valuation Office while those for the 6 counties of Northern Ireland (Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry (Derry and Tyrone) are held in the PRONI in Belfast.
