Ballyporeen is most commonly known as the ancestral home of Ronald Reagan.
Ballyporeen is also home to the singer/songwriter Gemma Hayes who hits include "Back of my Hand" from her debut album "Night on my Side" which was released to critical acclaim.

Ballyporeen parish priest Fr Joe Flynn, who celebrated mass, told the attendance they were gathered to sympathise with the Reagan family and the American people at the loss of their much loved former president and to share again some of their memories of his 1984 visit.
Fr Flynn, who said Ballyporeen meant a lot to Mr Reagan, stressed that the community greatly appreciated the visit he made to his ancestral home.
And the gifts in the Offertory procession included a folded Stars and Stripes flag and a wreath from Ballyporeen which is to be sent to the US embassy in Dublin.

Ballyporeen is the town in which the great grandfather of US President Ronald Reagan was baptised.
a parish, in the barony of Iffa and Offa West, county of Tipperary, and province of Munster, 4 miles W. from Clogheen, on the road from Ballyporeen to Mitchelstown; containing 3786 inhabitants.
The R.C. parish is co-extensive with that of the Established Church, and is called Ballyporeen, where the chapel is situated.

There is some ribbon development along the approach roads to Ballyporeen, along the regional road and county roads radiating out from the village for approx.
The applicant states that the only service that would be required would be water supply, via a 100mm pipe connection to the junction with the regional road to the south-west, and that there is no evidence that the Council is prepared to provide any other services in any event.
Even if such village housing has to be on individual plots with septic tanks or treatment systems, pending the provision of a proper public treated sewage system for the village, this is preferable to a line of one-off houses in the open countryside.

A: It's funny, I don't think so much that its growing up in Ballyporeen, y'know there are eight kids in our family and growing up in a house with so many kids it's like a mini community.
Living in Ballyporeen as a child was great but as a teenager it was a very boring place, I couldn't wait to get out of there.
I think places like Ballyporeen are beautiful and I think that if I was to have a family I'd definitely bring them up in the country.

Ballyporeen, which a few months earlier did not even have a direct dial telephone system, was linked by satellite to world capitals, US defence commands and an airborne jet.
Ballyporeen Community Council chairman Martin Neville assured him on that memorable day: “You are now one of our own.”

Looking around town today, I was struck by the similarity between Ballyporeen and the small town in Illinois where I was born, Tampico.
The bond between our two countries runs deep and strong, and I'm proud to be here in recognition and celebration of our ties that bind.

One of his four great-grandfathers had immigrated to the United States from Ballyporeen, Co. Tipperary, Ireland in the 1860s.

A pub in the ancestral home town of Ronald Reagan has been bought by a Republican donor and is being moved to the Reagan Library in California.
Irish American businessman Frederick Ryan Junior confirmed that the bar, the Ronald Reagan Pub in Ballyporeen, Co. Tipperary, will be moved to a new building that houses Reagan’s presidential plane.
While the exterior of the building will remain in Ballyporeen, all the pub contents will move to the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, including the two bar counters, the wallpaper, furnishings, alcohol bottles and memorabilia of Reagan’s visit to Ballyporeen in 1984.
