  10th BALUCH REGIMENT
The regiment was brought into the regular line for its services in Central India and it became the 27th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry in the post-Mutiny realignment.
The badge chosen for the 10th Baluch Regiment in 1923 was a Roman 'Ten' within a crescent moon, a crown above and title scroll below.
In August 1947, the Baluch Regiment was allotted to Pakistan, the Dogra companies remaining in India and transferring to, among other regiments, The Indian Grenadiers.

In the light of the former history of the constituent regiments, it was appropriate that the new regiment should adopt the Chinthe, the mythical lion-dragon, the guardian of Buddhist pagodas, above the numerical '8' and the title scroll.
The Regiment's pipes and drums went to London in 1946 to march in the Victory parade, their claim being that they were the best in the Indian Army.

In the Indian Army of my day this was the 10th Baluch Regiment which, on the outbreak of war in 1939, consisted of five active battalions (1st to 5th) and a training battalion (10th).
During the war a further eight active service battalions were raised (6th to 9th and 14th to 17th) and in addition three Garrison Battalions and four Garrison Companies, the latter providing security and administrative personnel at schools of instruction, GHQ Delhi and military prisons.
The author, who was commissioned in the Baloch Regiment in 1958 and commanded its 17th Battalion, is severely critical of the British government, especially Mountbatten whom he accuses of bias towards India.

The location of the height, called Point 5353, is at the centre of a dispute that has been freshly stoked after Pakistani allegations — denied by New Delhi — during US under secretary of state Richard Armitage’s visit last week that India had attempted a combined air and land assault in its vicinity.
The Baluch battalion holding the height is flanked by a battalion of the Pakistan army’s Northern Light Infantry on its east and by one of the Punjab Regiment on its west.

There is no doubt that the first Indian VC was won by the Baluch Regiment.

Captain Bhandari Ram, who has died aged 82, was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions on November 22 1944 when serving as a Sepoy with the 10th Baluch Regiment, Indian Army, at Arakan, Burma.
On one of these, the 16th Battalion, 10th Baluch regiment, part of 51st Brigade, was attacking a strongly held Japanese bunker position in East Mayu, and Sepoy Bhandari Ram was in the leading section of one of the platoons.
He was posted with the 10th Baluch Regiment - which was made up of a Muslim/Hindu mix, two thirds Muslim and one third Dogra Hindu Brahmin - to Burma.
