The DOLE chief cited the local government of Banaybanay, Davao Oriental whose "fly now pay later program" is enabling needy workers in this poor municipality to land better paying jobs overseas and pay the required placement and other fees after they have been deployed.
Tomas said that Banaybanay's municipal government has paid for the placement of 26 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) for their employment and deployment in the Middle East.
The report indicated that Banaybanay Mayor Pedro Mejos through PESO Manager Inonjare Solidaga initiated the passage of a municipal ordinance providing for a "fly now pay later program" for migrant workers in the municipality.
