  bandpass filters at Filtronetics, Inc.
A bandpass filter transfers energy from the source to its load in a select band of frequencies between the lower cutoff frequency and the upper cutoff frequency.
The LC or lumped element bandpass filter is comprised of inductors and capacitors.
Narrowband crystal filters with low insertion loss are achievable for bandwidths from 0.005% to 2% of the center frequency.

The BPF 2/3 is a 3-helical resonator bandpass filter with aperture-coupling between the resonators.
The filters are delivered in two basic models: The BPBR-types have the reject range on the high side of the pass frequency and the BRBP-types have the reject range situated on the low side of the pass frequency.
The filter has very small physical dimensions owing to the use of high-Q, temperature compensated helical resonators The housing is made of extruded aluminium, the chassis of passivated steel, and teflon insulation has been applied in the rigid coaxial cables and in the connectors.

In this kind of filter, the walls of the cavity, the long cylinders, the buckets under the cylinders and the disk-shaped objects near the first and last cylinder are all made of metal.
Filter theory provides the values for the lumped inductors and capacitors that are needed to obtain the desired filter characteristic.
This procedure produces a filter with the dimensions of: length of the two outermost resonators: 113.44 mm; length of the five inner resonators: 114.684 mm; antenna distance: 1.928 mm; distances between resonators: 25.286 mm, 28.3 mm and 28.78 mm.

What is a Band Pass Filter?
While there are separate terms for the opposite of a bandpass filter - the notch and band reject - there are no corresponding terms to differentiate between a high Q bandpass filter - covered by this item - and a low Q bandpass filter.
This means that the two pole filter bandpass filter is effectively putting a single pole on the low frequency end and a single pole on the high frequency end of the passband.
The group delay of a bandpass filter is greatest at the center frequency, and becomes longer as the Q of the filter increases.

A band-pass filter is (usually) an electronic circuit that lets through (Click link for more info and facts about frequencies) frequencies between two other given frequencies.
For example, an ideal bandpass filter would let through all signals above 30 (The unit of frequency; one Hertz has a periodic interval of one second) Hz but below 100 Hz.
In practice, no bandpass filters are ideal and do not attenuate frequencies just outside the desired frequency range completely.

Bandpass filters are one of the simplest and most economical ways to transmit a well-defined band of light, and to reject all other unwanted radiation.
When a filter is used with non-collimated light such as convergent or divergent rays, the wavelength shift will appear somewhat less than that of collimated light at the same angle.
All of our bandpass filters are stabilized to prevent drift of peak wavelength with age and are hermetically sealed for maximum humidity protection.

 Digital Filters - Frequency Filters
Bandpass filtering can be used to enhance edges (suppressing low frequencies) while reducing the noise at the same time (attenuating high frequencies).
We obtain the filter function of a bandpass by multiplying the filter functions of a lowpass and of a highpass in the frequency domain, where the cut-off frequency of the lowpass is higher than that of the highpass.
To perform the frequency filtering we transform both the image of the house and the mask into the Fourier domain where we multiply the two images with the effect that the frequencies occurring in the mask remain in the output while the others are set to zero.

 Andover Filter Glass
Filter glass is unique in that it transmits a very broad band of light, and is generally characterized as either longpass or bandpass.
Many of the bandpass filters are used to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio of illumination systems, whereas the longpass filters are used as order/wavelength sorting filters.
Since these filters are highly absorbing, the effects of angle of incidence, and ambient temperature, are different from the all-dielectric type.

The Q of a filter determines its bandwidth, and this is especially true of bandpass filters.

 Arrangement of bandpass filters
When we design the arrangement of filters so as to cancel the influence of the center-frequency distribution on the final result, the non-linear phase term is eliminated in Eq.(22).
If we design each of the band-pass filters to have the same Q value, then the spectral phase given in Eq.(25) is common to all the filters.
Furthermore, Eq.(23) indicates that the band-pass filters distribute uniformly over the logarithmic frequency: a bank of constant-Q filters is thus constructed.

A bandpass filter is characterized by three major parameters - center frequency, amplitude response (gain) and bandwidth.
Once the filter has been designed, then Q is easily calculated by measuring the -3 dB frequency points, taking the difference and dividing that into the center frequency, and lastly, the bandwidth in octaves is then calculated.
For reference purposes, Figure 1 shows a bandpass filter with its associated parameters labeled for clarity and is used for derivation purposes.
