Bands Reunited was a television program produced by VH1 in 2004.
A show normally consisted of the crew first hunting down the ex-members of the band (often first in disguise) one-by-one, and convincing them to agree for the one-time concert; the members were "contracted" by signing a record album by their former band.
The band members were then interviewed, usually focusing on the reasons of the breakup.

"Bands Reunited" Tour Petition   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
It is a strong concept for “reality show”, and in that regard succeeds in creating drama around the search for scattered and estranged band members, and exposing and presenting the personal/human dynamics of reuniting old friends/band-mates.
The strong emphasis on the searching out and reuniting of the members is as interesting as it is heartwarming, and should absolutely be part of the show, but ultimately overshadows and undermines the show’s goal of the “one-time, one-night-only” performance.
It is clear from many of the band members’ reactions that they would jump at the chance to do such a tour, if they knew that the demand and the opportunity were present.

It lets bands heal the wounds and realize how much playing together back in the day was the heyday of their life, and that it will always be in their blood.
Sure, shit happens with every band, but this show lets them forget all the bad things and lets them remember the great feelings of playing before their fans for so many years.

Bands like Duran Duran and Tears for Fears have set aside their differences, and are in the process of re-igniting their careers and jumping back into mainstream consciousness.
However, other bands need a little push, and that is the motivation behind VH1’s series “Bands Reunited.” The series focuses on bands that exploded during the infancy of music video, only to fizzle into obscurity years later.
The biggest attraction “Bands Reunited” has is not necessarily the possibility of old bands playing together again, although it is exciting when an original lineup decides to dust off its heyday hits for a crowd of joyous fans.

The idea is for the other band members to add their own details so that both the family tree and the inter band member e-mail facilities will work.
If you know that other band members do not have the facilities to enable them to enter their own details or if a band member has passed away then send us their details and we will enter them for you.
When listing band members if there is an 'e-mail' link to the left of the band member you can send a standard message to that band member to say that you would like to contact them.

Throughout the journey, viewers were told the band's history in classic Behind the Music style, explaining the rise and fall and ultimate break-up, confronting band members one-by-one to get their take on what went down.
Each reunited band is given a 15-second introduction before being lifted out of the stage amidst a plume of steam (as if being reincarnated from some sort of rock and roll hell).
After singing their hit, the bands were trotted out again to sing a modern-day cover -- painful for the bands and the audience.

'80S bands are 'reunited' on VH1
For "Bands Reunited," debuting Monday night, VH1 doesn't merely send out invitations to regroup the original members of hit '80s bands.
The other bands featured are Romeo Void (Tuesday), A Flock of Seagulls (Wednesday), Klymaxx (Thursday), Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Friday), Kajagoogoo (Jan. 26), Extreme (Jan. 27), Dramarama (Jan. 28), The Alarm (Jan. 29) and Squeeze (Jan. 30).
Like "Behind the Music," the drama of "Bands Reunited" is seeing what became of artists who were once the toast of MTV and watching their emotional reunions.

VH1 gives '80s bands an encore - The Boston Globe
On the surface, VH1's new series "Bands Reunited" looks like the sort of television that would appeal exclusively to folks waiting for parachute pants and Jheri curl to make a roaring comeback.
Once enough members of a band have been tracked down and signed on to the reunion, they have just a day or two to rehearse and reconnect before the big concert.
This is when the drama kicks into high gear, particularly in the case of Klymaxx, the RandB girl group that scored with the hit "Meeting in the Ladies Room." Guitarist Cheryl Cooley absconded with the band's name and formed a new Klymaxx, much to the chagrin of the original members.

VH-1's Bands Reunited might as well be named One Hit Wonders Reunited, well that might not be fair since some of the groups had 1 1/2 hits or a few almost hits.
I was excited at the prospect of this show but the first few episodes disapointed me. The high drama of the Kajagoogoo and Extreme episodes made me think the show had great potential.

In a 2004 episode of VH1's Bands Reunited, Kurt Harland was the only invited band member who refused to participate in an Information Society reunion concert, upsetting many fans.
Although Harland apparently accepted the invitation on-camera by signing a copy of their first album (on the show, band members are "contracted" by signing a classic album cover of their former band) he did not show up for the reunion concert, limiting his participation to a solo interview (VH1 2004).

Another thing Michaels couldn't possibly have known at the time: Nearly three decades later, producers who probably hadn't even been born yet in 1976 would be making riveting television by doing essentially the very same thing: VH1's new "Bands Reunited" debuted on Jan. 19, and it is, without a doubt, the greatest show on earth.
Instead, the producers of "Bands Reunited" tend to target long-dormant headliners from the '80s.
After all, the four had arranged for their manager to boot him out of the band without explanation nearly 20 years earlier, effectively ending his career.

This is the reason performances by bands such as Aerosmith, KISS and ZZ Top - artists dating back to the Genesis era - are billed as some of the best live shows still today.
If problems present themselves that are big enough to break the chemistry of a band, the differences should be respected and the band and its work should be immediately halted and retired.
Those are the exact reasons broken-up bands should be left alone; art doesn't need to be pressed out of people whose chemistry is long since shot.
