Although the Banff name was retained in the new Banff & Buchan seat, in fact only one fifth of its voters came from Banffshire and the other four fifths from Aberdeenshire East.
Aberdeenshire East was one of the last seats to be declared and despite predictions that Douglas Henderson might just hold on, this was one of the nine SNP seats to fall and Tory Albert McQuarrie scraped in with an excruciatingly small majority of 558.
This was approved unanimously by the Banff & Buchan constituency and Alex Salmond was re-adopted as Westminster parliamentary candidate.

 New technology course launch
An innovative new teaching course, developed jointly by the University of Aberdeen and Banff and Buchan College, will be officially launched today, (Friday September 24), by Richard Baker, North East Scotland MSP, at a special event at Banff and Buchan College, Fraserburgh.
Education Minister Peter Peacock said he was delighted with the progress being made thanks to the partnership between the University of Aberdeen and Banff and Buchan College.
Also in attendance at the launch today will be Robert Sinclair, Principal of Banff and Buchan College, and Cathy Macaslan, Vice-Principal and Head of the School of Education, at the University of Aberdeen.

Hi there I'm Chris and have been involved in Girlguiding in Banff and Buchan for the past 15 years, the last two of which, I have been Assistant County Commissioner.
The County of Banff and Buchan stretches from Peterhead around the coast to Portsoy, and inland to the Turriff and Fyvie areas.
We have quite a number of other less widely known Ambassadors but we are very grateful for the sterling job they do in the Banff and Buchan area.
