Altogether it covers an area of 7,761.50 km² and with a population of 9,942,150 (as of December 16, 2006) it has a population density of 1,280.95 per km².
A new special administrative area of Nakhon Suvarnabhumi is planned to be formed from two districts of Bangkok and three districts of Samut Prakan.

Rainfall study is one of the alternative measure to solve flood problem in Bangkok Metropolitan area.
Five representative rainfall stations in Bangkok Metropolitan, were historical studied thoroughly, are meteorological station (Bangkok), Ago-meteorological station (Bangkhen), Ago-meteorological station (Bangna) and Royal Irrigation Department station (Samsen).

Status and trend of O3 as well as the monthly and diurnal variations were analyzed in relation to the local meteorological conditions as well as the regional transport of pollutants associated with the monsoon.
The O3 in Bangkok was found to be typical for the polluted urban areas with a lower concentration in the city center, especially at curbside stations, and higher concentration at the downwind locations.
