I too have heard about the beast of Bangor on Dee and was very excited.
And ever since that fatal day, the 'Beast of Bangor' (no one is quite sure who he was or is however) has been seeking out King Aethelfrith in search of revenge.
It is one of the true mysteries of Wales which has deceived scientists for years and years, but the origin of the story is believed to date back to around 616AD when King Aethelfrith (Ethelfrid) ordered the slaughter of the monks at Bangor.

Later that year Simon was the first pirate broadcaster to become a national star when the BBC offered him a show on the Light Programme which, to use his catch-phrase, “can't be bad”.

The next fixture at Bangor-on Dee Race-course is on Friday, November 28.
