  Banjica - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Banjica (Serbian: Бањица) is a southern suburb of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.
Banjica used to be a suburban village, inhabited in the early 19th century by migrants from southeastern Serbia who came after the end of the Second Serbian Uprising.
Banjica is separated from downtown Belgrade by Banjicka Forest, a long narrow belt of deciduous woodland.

 Banjica concentration camp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Banjica camp in Belgrade was established in July 1941 and shut down at the end of September 1944, a month before the withdrawal of the Germans from Belgrade.
They were killed along with the other prisoners in the camp yard, shot down in the village of Jajinci at the foot of Avala, at the Jewish and the central cemetery in Belgrade.

In this contribution the importance of the household, as a basic social economic unit in the neolithic, is observed through its relation with other households in the community and its participation in creation of what they are constructing together - the community.
The site of Banjica is taken as a sample for analysis, being the settlement of Vinca culture, which is located in the urban area of contemporary Belgrade and which has been excavated several times during the second half of 20th century.

During hydrogeological research in the area of the north-eastern foothills of Mt. Suva Planina in Eastern Serbia, a borehole of 100 m of depth was drilled in the vicinity of a lukewarm spring, Banjica.
During this hydrodynamical test, great quantities of precipitation occured in the hinterland of the spring, having the effect of a floodwave.
This can be detected by comparative analysis of the hydrograph of the Banjica spring and the graph of pressures in the borehole.

It was managed by the special SS unit (Sonderkommando beim KCL Banjica), with the help of police forces of the Serbian collaborative government.
Over 4.200 victims killed in Belgrade and its vicinity had been detained in the Banjica camp, while a few thousands of prisoners were deported to other concentration and labour camps over the occupied Europe, from the Norwegian north regions to Mauthauzen and Auschwitz.
Documents, posters and photos, together with the big model of the camp complex, create a frame within which saved prisoners’ personal belongings, genuine drawings sketches and handworks are depicted.

Federal Defence Minister Pavle Bulatović was murdered on Monday, 7 February 2000 in a restaurant in the Belgrade suburb of Banjica.
Finally, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague announced that Bulatovic was under investigation for crimes perpetrated in Kosovo in 1998 and 1999.
Minister Bulatović, 52, was dining in the restaurant of the soccer club Rad in the Banjica residential area when he was shot and wounded - as were two people sitting next to him, the restaurant owner Mirko Knezević, and the director of the YuGarant Bank, Vuk Obradović.

When the war ended in 1945, he resumed his democratic-minded political activities, organizing a student opposition movement to the Soviet Yugoslav regime and was soon back in prison, serving a four-year sentence.
