Reproducing bank note images - Bank Notes - Bank of Canada
The Bank recognizes that currency is an important symbol to Canadians and that people may wish to reproduce images of notes (or parts of notes) for special purposes — usually education, advertising, or numismatics.
It is not necessary to request the Bank's permission to use bank note images for film or video purposes, provided that the images are intended to show a general indication of currency, and that there is no danger that the images could be misused.
Although the Bank is the copyright owner of the images used on Canadian bank notes, it recognizes that currency is an important symbol of value in Canada.

 Banknote Paper Types
For the purposes of identifying the Scott catalog number of the U.S. Bank Note issues it is necessary to be able to distinguish between only two paper types, a hard, white, somewhat crackly paper that is referred to by most philatelists, including this web site, as "hard white" and an off-white, "soft porous" paper.
Note that this stamp is fairly common (Scott 114) and was chosen for its wide margin and the certainty that it was printed by the National Bank Note Company, since all stamps of the 1869 issue were printed by National.
Note that the poor centering providing two wide margins makes identifying the paper type much easier, something to keep in mind while learning to differentiate the paper types of the Bank Note issues.
