Bank of Baroda is a bank in India established on July 20, 1908 in the princely state of Baroda, in Gujarat.
The bank, along with 13 other major commercial banks of India, was nationalisd on 19th July, 1969, by the Government of India.
In Guyana, BOB incorporated its branch as a subsidiary, Bank of Baroda Guyana.

Bank of Baroda (BoB) is planning to setup a subsidiary in Tanzania for expanding its wings in the global market.
The banks first overseas branch was opened at Mombasa in Kenya in 1953 and currently has 61 branches including subsidiaries and joint ventures in 16 countries.
The bank is also in the process of identifying more overseas centers for enhancing the international presence.

BoB has provided on its NPAs as per the RBI guidelines and the cumulative provisions available for the bank were 54.80% as on March 31, 1998.

 Bank of Baroda chalks out plan to expand overseas operations
Mumbai, July 21: Bank of Baroda (BoB) is planning to further expand its operation in to Europe, US and Africa.
While the bank's decision to open offices in Athens and some cities of US will be based on a survey to be conducted shortly, it is all geared up to open offices in Botswana, Tanzania and one more additional branch in Mauritius.
Deposits of the bank are expected to grow by 19 per cent in which the contribution of the low-cost savings deposit is expected to be 25 per cent.

Taking a cue from the cut announced by Reserve Bank of India in interest rate on savings accounts offered by banks, Bank of Baroda has reduced deposit rates by 0.25-0.75 per cent across all maturities effective March 10.
The rate for deposits of 46-90 days, 91-180 days and 181 days to one year would now be 4.75 per cent (5.25 per cent), five per cent (5.5 per cent) and five per cent (5.75 per cent) respectively.
BoB said a rate of 5.25 per cent (six per cent) has been fixed for deposits of 1-3 years while that for three years and above, the interest would be 5.5 per cent (six per cent).

Calcutta, May 9 (PTI): Bank of Baroda is planning to open 125 branches throughout the country and three abroad during the current financial year, according to its chairman and managing director, P. Shenoy.
Talking to newspersons after reviewing the performance of the bank’s eastern region recently, Shenoy said, “We are planning to increase our domestic branch network by 125 branches from 2,750 at present and are on the final stages of opening offices and branches in Tanzania, Malaysia and China during the year.”
The CMD said they were expecting to commence business in Tanzania via a subsidiary route soon, while a representative office in South China’s Guanzo province is expected to be functional by June.
