Banu Nadir The Trench Banu Qurayza – Hudaybiyyah Khaybar Mu'tah Mecca Hunayn – Autas – Ta'if Tabouk
Banu Nadir were forced to surrender after the siege had lasted for 14 days, when help from the Khazraj and Banu Qurayza failed to materialize and when Muhammad ordered the felling of their palm-trees.
Upon expulsion of Banu Nadir, Muhammad is said to have received a revelation of Sura 59 of the Qur'an.

Two of the tribes, the Banu Nadir and the Banu Qaynuqa, were eventually exiled for falling short on their agreed upon commitments and for the consequent danger they posed to the nascent Muslim community.Muhammad asked them to leave the strategic position which they occupied, approximately 3 miles south of Medina.
In the third week of the siege, Banu Qurayza signaled to the Quraysh-led coalition their readiness to act against Muhammad, although they demanded that the Meccans provide them with hostages first, to ensure that they would not be abandoned to face Muhammad alone, if the battle did not go as The Meccans desired.
The exiled Banu Nadir and the Banu Qaynuqa removed to the prosperous northern oasis of Khaybar, and later pledged political loyalty to Muhammad.

Like Banu al-Nadir, in time they surrendered, but unlike the Banu al-Nadir, they were subjected to the arbitration of Sa'd b.
Indeed Ibn Ishaq's account of the siege of Medina and the fall of the Banu Qurayza is pieced together by him from information given by a variety of persons he names, including Muslim descendants of the Jews of Qurayza.
A later generation of these descendants superimposed details of the siege of Masada on the story of the siege of Banu Qurayza, perhaps by confusing a tradition of their distant past with one from their less remote history.

The Battle of the Trench began when the Jewish tribe Banu Nadir attacked the Muslims in Medina who had expelled the tribe for their alleged treachery towards them.
The Banu Nadir were initially allies of the Madinan Muslims, but they secretly intrigued with the Makkan polytheists and some of the Madinans.
Nu‘aym set Banu Qurayza against the Quraysh by telling them that they would be abandoned by the Makkans and should refuse to help unless they were given hostages from the Quraysh.

The Banu Nadir refused and they were banished.
On the contrary, the Banu Qurayzah prior to the incident of their so-called "massacre" attempted to betray the Muslims by openly aligning themselves with the Confederate armies (consisting of the pagan Quraysh and their allies) during the beseiging of the city of Madinah, known in history as the "War of the Confederates" (al-Harb al-Adzhaab).
Banu Quraydhah were surrounded and blockaded for more than twenty nights until they offered to surrender on the condition that Sa’d Ibn Mu’aadh, may Allaah be pleased with him, would act as an arbiter in their case.

The ten days expired but Banu Nadir remained in their homes, thus Allah’s Messenger (saw) fought them until they asked him to spare their lives on condition that they retained all the possessions which they could carry on their camels.
In expelling Banu Nadir, the Messenger of Allah (saw) managed to quell the internal unrest and restore the dignity and high status of the Muslims.

 The Battle Of The Trench
The Battle of the Trench took place after the campaign against Banu Nadir, who had been expelled from Madina for their treachery and who had mostly joined their Jewish brethren in Khaybar.
It consisted of the Makkan polytheists, the desert tribes of central Arabia, the Jews previously expelled for treacheries from Madina, the Jews (Banu Qurayza) remaining in Madina, and the hypocrites led by ‘Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul.
This was the end of the conspiracies of Banu Qurayza, as well as the Jewish presence in Madina.

Ummah.com - Criticism of the Banu Qurayzah account
The biographers of the Prophet, followed by later historians, tell us that Banu Qaynuqa.,1 and later Banu al-Nadir,2 provoked the Muslims, were besieged, and in turn agreed to surrender and were allowed to depart, taking with them all their transportable possessions.
According to Ibn Ishaq in the Sira,5 the third of the Jewish tribes, Banu Qurayza, sided with the Qura****es and their allies, who made an unsuccessful attack on Medina in an attempt to destroy Islam.
It can be demonstrated that the assertion that 600 or 800 or 9007 men of Banu Qurayza were put to death in cold blood can not be true; that it is a later invention; and that it has its source in Jewish traditions.

The Exclusion of the Jews and Christians   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
The exile of the Banu Nadir in 625 was a consequence of the treachery of a pagan tribe and the Arab obligation of blood-money, the details of which are not pertinent to our theme.
Banu An-Nadir and Banu Qurayzah fought (with the Prophet (peace be upon him) violating their peace treaty), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) exiled Banu An-Nadir and allowed Banu Qurayzah to remain in their homes (in Medina) taking nothing from them till they fought the Prophet (peace be upon him)...
What is also significant is that the incident is so similar to the alleged assassination attempt by the Banu Nadir, and according to one of the narrations, the general body of the Jews of Khaybar were responsible for this action, which actually led to the death of one of Muhammad's companions.

 Between Uhud and Trench
The Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir were originally sworn allies of the Muslims in Madina but they secretly intrigued with the Makkan pagans and the Madinan hypocrites.
They even tried treacherously to take the life of the Prophet while he was on a visit to them, breaking both the laws of hospitality and their own sworn alliance.
The Muslim army then besieged them in their fortresses and, seeing that neither the Makkan polytheists nor the hypocrites in Madina stirred a finger to help them, the Banu Nadir had to leave the city.
