The Kingdom of Baol in central (A republic in northwestern Africa on the coast of the Atlantic; formerly a French colony but achieved independence in 1960) Senegal was one of the kingdoms that arose from the split-up of the Empire of (Click link for more info and facts about Jolof) Jolof (Diolof) in about 1549.
Cayor and Baol were conquered by the French in the 19th century along with the rest of Senegal, in the campaigns of Governor Louis Faidherbe.
Cayor was ethnically a (The West AFrican language of the Wolof people in Senegal; related to Fula) Wolof kingdom, but it included communities of Serer-Safen and other (A West African language closely related to Fula; spoken primarily in Senegal and Gambia) Serer groups.
