Since the Supreme Court revised the grading of the bar examination in 1992 to have the essay scores scaled to the MBE scaled score, the MBE has constituted 35% of the final grade and essays 65%.
Experts at the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) have reported that a bar examination's reliability (that is, the presence of consistency across multiple administrations) can be improved by giving greater weight to the MBE up to approximately 65%.
The NJ Board of Bar Examiners is approved for reimbursement under the GI Bill.

  Multistate Bar Examination
The Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) is a six-hour, two-hundred multiple-choice question examination administered as a part of the bar examination in almost all jurisdictions of the United States.
It is administered on a single day of the bar examination in 48 states and the District of Columbia; the only states that do not administer the MBE are Louisiana and Washington.
Bar examinations in the United States also include state-specific essay questions on a second or even third day.

 Connecticut Bar Examining Committee (p2 - Regulations)
There shall be an examinations committee for each examination, to be appointed by the committee at the regular meeting next preceding each examination, who shall have the duty, power and authority to provide for the examination of candidates and superintend the examination.
Unless a written objection to an applicant is received by the appropriate standing committee on recommendations or by the examining committee within 10 days of publication, or the standing committee does not approve an applicant, the report of the standing committee shall be submitted to the county clerk without a meeting of the county bar.
The passing score on the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination shall be a scaled score of eighty (80) and must be achieved within four years before or after the date the applicant files his or her application for admission to the Connecticut bar.

The report shall be filed with the board of bar examiners within thirty (30) days of the conclusion of any hearing, unless otherwise ordered by the board of bar examiners, and no later than March 1 of the year in which the petitioner seeks to sit for the bar examination.

 NH Bar Admissions
Persons seeking admission by bar examination must complete the Application for the New Hampshire Bar Examination, the Petition and Questionnaire for Admission to the Bar of New Hampshire, and submit all documentation requested in the petition and questionnaire.
The bar examination fee is $250.00, which must be made payable to the State of N.H., and the Character and Fitness investigation fee is $125.00, which must be made payable to the Character and Fitness Committee of the N.H. Supreme Court.
Bar examination applicants may take the MPRE either before or after the New Hampshire Bar Examination, but successful completion of the MPRE is a prerequisite to bar admission.

Legal competence is demonstrated by presenting the requisite educational credentials and passing the Maryland Bar Examination.
The General Bar examination presently consists of a written test of five hours and forty minutes duration usually offered on Tuesday, and the Multistate Bar Examination, a 200 item, six hour multiple choice test offered on the last Wednesday of February and July.

 About the US Patent Bar Examination
In the past, the examination was administered twice a year using examination booklets and multiple choice grading forms.
The computer-based examination will also facilitate more frequent administration and permit the test to be given simultaneously in many locations, thus reducing delays and travel expenses for applicants.
In my experience the patent bar review courses that are more expensive tend to be better than those that are marketed as appropriate for those on a tight budget.

Only the number will appear on examination papers to identify the applicant, and no applicant will be asked or permitted to identify his or her examination papers in any other way.

The Board of Law Examiners announced today that the passing score on the New York State bar examination will be increased from the current passing score of 660 to 675 on a scale of 1000.
The increase will be phased in over a three year period, with the score required to pass the examination being increased five points each year, starting with the July 2005 administration of the examination.
