The river Baranduin, or as the Hobbits calls it Brandywine, came from Lake Nenuial and ran about 75 miles east and then turned south along the east border of the Shire for nearly the same amount of miles until it met and passed beneath the Bridge of Stonebows and the Great East Road.
Baranduin passed near Buckland after the bridge and close to the western eaves of the Old Forest.
Baranduin was also the only larger river in the kingdom of Arthedain after the dividing of Arnor.
