An informative display about the history of the station, created by station staff and including text and old photographs, may be found just inside the barriers, on the southern side of the main entrance corridor.
Thameslink trains on their way into Moorgate also stop there, but not when outbound from Moorgate and the platform which would have been used for this purpose is closed and looks derelict.

A walk through the City of London (part one) by the London Tourist Guide
From the tube station (Moor Street exit) you can follow a yellow line on the pavement right through to the other side of the arts complex, through pleasant walkways, to Barbican Tube station.
Above the tube station on the south side is a row of black-and-white timbered buildings which give some idea of what the road was like 500 years ago.
- one of the grand old Stations of London- you will probably already have seen it in the photography of Robert Doisneau - though most people think the photos of a romantic couple taking a final kiss before their (steam) train pulls out were taken in Paris.

 London, England
The only large residential portion of the City is the Barbican Centre, a concrete complex of towers, parking garages, and pedestrian walkways located on the northern edge of the City.
Other elements of the urban fabric were a forum, a temple complex, a governor's palace, a wharf along the river for landing, a large fort (portions of which can still be seen at the Barbican Centre), and a great wall, built about AD 200, which roughly enclosed the area that later became the City.
Eventually the inner city was ringed by lavish railway stations, such as Saint Pancras, a sort of medieval fairy-tale castle built in the 1860s.

The handy walkways tube map has lots of these little routes where it's quicker to walk than use the tube, so I suppose it's bound to be one of the ones one here.
It's hot, the tube was like a sauna this morning, the office is like a sauna right now (yada, yada, moan, moan), but it's almost lunchtime and I've just been looking at the chavscum.co.uk website.
At the last one there were pole dancers (plently of poles on tube carriages), music, booze, streamers etc etc. Anyway the timing is all kept pretty last minute so head off to the site on Friday morning if you want to find out more about exactly what time it'll be taking place.

 London Diary: 9/22-24/00
Just beside the Moorgate tube station, there is a staircase that takes you up to the second floor.
Since we had heard a good deal of the general information that was being noted in different buildings, we left the walk about half-way through, caught a bus up the Strand for a half-mile or so, and went to see an abandoned tube station, called Aldwych.
The cafe we ended up at, after crossing the "lake" on a raised walkway, was at the Barbican Center, the main performing arts complex in London where we had seen the Goldsworthy exhibit.

There would also be a "gym / swim" membership which will enable you to also use the gym facilities at the Barbican YMCA, this would be about £350.
The plans are to have an "aqua" card, (approximately £270 per annum) which will enable the user to use the swimming pool, shower facilities and aqua aerobics sessions free of charge.

[KLF] Iain Sinclair @ Barbican: directions and pubs
The entrance is where the [P] parking symbol is, on Silk St. The tunnel between Barbican tube station and the pub is Beech Street, the greyed out road.
There's another pub that I know just round the corner, by Moorgate tube station, called the Bishop of Norwich, that's ok. There are also quite a few pubs around Farringdon/Barbican stations (fuelling the crowds before they descend on Fabric and Turnmills) Mail me for any further directions, Jon -- This space left intentionally blank.
There's a pub called the King's Head which is a stone's throw away from the entrance to the Barbican Centre.

As tube stations are often underground and aren't 24-hour or accessibility usable, look at adding a piece of street furniture.
They've travelled there by car or bus via the motorways and roads, by train or tube, by plane, and are surprised to find that the terminal has become a terminus, here at the quiet limit of the world.
Paul Mison's Tube disruption RSS feed is excellent, and, because it lists only the problems on the network, reads like a grim-but-poetic litany of systemic failure.
