Topic: Barenaked Lunch album

CANOE -- JAM! Music - Pop Encyclopedia - Barenaked Ladies
They released a cheap cassette called Buck Naked' in 1989 followed by 1990's 'Barenaked Lunch' which was the Creeggan brothers debut.
By 1991 Tyler Stewart had joined the band and the group was stirring up publicity both with their savage wit and impromptu acoustic concerts (especially on live radio) but in the media by being banned by Toronto mayor June Rowlands who wouldn't allow them to play in Nathan Phillips Square due to their 'offensive' name.
The album, riding the crest of the ensuing media frenzy, went on to sell 500,000 copies and BNL were unanimously hailed as geniuses.

Rock It Old School - FAQ
Barenaked Lunch: In 1990, after meeting the Creeggans (but before Tyler had joined), Ed got out his Yamaha 4-track recorder and they recorded this tape and gave it a pink cover (hence it is referenced as the 'Pink Tape').
They also corrected an error on the CD itself, in which the original CD (which mimicked the look of the gordon ball) the printers mistook the white stripe of the ball to mean transparent, so the white stripe on the original press is silver (the color of the disc).
Barenaked In America is a documentary on the band made in 1998 by Jason Priestly (who directed the Old Apartment video).

Like any great new Bob Dylan album — and rest assured his latest studio creation (in stores Tuesday) will come to rank among the upper half of his 30-plus efforts — "Modern Times" will be discussed and deconstructed and probably debunked once or twice from now until the decade expires.
Instead, a towering creativity that once was so mercurial (and, thus, unpredictable) now seems to poke along at a snail's pace, placing gaps between monumental albums that kills any comeback momentum and keeps him trapped in his perpetually touring ivory tower.

This is the first Styx album with the three principal songwriters, Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw and James Young, to be released since 1983's "Kilroy Was Here." That album created a division and eventually a split within the band, and this new album does little to bring any cohesion back to them.

The group used to close many of their concerts with this, followed by a big rap number taking lyrics from a handful of popular songs and beatboxing along with some interesting late-'80s hip hop choreography.
