The Archbishop of Split and Makarska Monsignor Marin Barisia extended Christmas wishes to believers celebrating Christmas according to the Julian calendar.
He wished them true peace and joy and the fulfilment of their wishes; greater solidarity and mutual respect, as well as an openness for dialogue and forgiveness.
"Although we are different nationalities, faiths and have different calendars and rituals; although we speak different tongues and have different cultural heritages according to Him we are brothers and sisters; sons and daughters with one Father", said Barisia in his Christmas message.

In this study the author analyzes the phylogenetic relationships among the genera and species of alligator lizards (Squamata: Anguidae: Gerrhonotinae).
The subfamily consists of six monophyletic genera: Coloptychon, Gerrhonotus, Elgaria, Barisia, Mesaspis, and Abronia.
The author reviews the history of gerrhonotine taxonomy, provides a key to, and diagnoses of, all gerrhonotine taxa, and discusses taxonomic and biogeographic implications of gerrhonotine relationships.

The large glyptosaurines may have been ecologically similar to the Iygosomine scincids living in Australia today.
As presently diagnosed, Barisia is a paraphyletic taxon and some of its species, particularly those of the gadovi-imbricata group, may be closer to Abronia.
Within gerrhonotines, the moreleti group, the gadovi-imbricata group, and Abronia are closest, and Elgaria is their sister taxon.

I am studying the internal cranial osteology and anatomy in the extinct glyptosaurine anguid Helodermoides tuberculatus.
This study is incorporating members of the extant North American anguids (subfamily Gerrhonotinae; the alligator lizards); such as Barisia, Elgaria, and Gerrhonotus.
The end result of this project is to construct a suite of cranial osteological characters for ‘basal’ anguids that will be used in a phylogenetic analysis.
