 William Mulholland
According to Fred Barker, an unofficial LADWP historian, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Jury faulted Mulholland with poor site selection and poor engineering judgment in choosing the kind of dam to be built on the site.
Special thanks to Fred Barker, waterworks engineer and unofficial LADWP historian, for his input into this article!
He was further criticized for allowing the dam to be built without independent expert opinion.

 Washington WRP Success Story NRCS
In recent years, the Barker Ranch, Ltd., became interested in and was successful in securing funding for wetland restoration and enhancement projects on the property with the use of Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) funding administered by the USDA - Natural Resources Conservation Service.
"The Barker Ranch, Ltd. is a group of shareholders drawn together through their common enjoyment of waterfowl hunting and the associated environment.
In the past year, the club hosted Wanapum Tribal members who collected bulrushes for use in assembling tulle mats, used to construct a lodge at the Cultural Center associated with Wanapum Dam.

The boulder is not exactly on the way if you take the Wonderland of Rocks trail, but we came in via Barker Dam (not recommended).
It was too big to be a coyote, and it had a very long tail which it wrapped around itself when it lay down to nap in the sun.

In 1887 contract No. 2663, for the 14.5-mile first section from Wodonga to Huon's Lane, was awarded to E. Barkly and Co. In 1888 R. Thornton and Co was awarded contract No. 3492 for the 11-mile 66-chain next section to Tallangatta.
