The college is trying to extend the deadline for the building of the sports pitch until June, so that the new plans for the playground and housing can be submitted.

Ten lecturers have formed the Barnet College Anti-War Group and were due to take to the streets outside the Wood Street, Barnet, campus yesterday to lobby support.

All five college campuses across the borough closed their doors to 25,000 students when 500 lecturers and suport staff joined a national strike over wages.
They are incensed that retiring college principal John Skitt was awarded a five per cent pay rise in line with recommendations from the Association of Colleges (AOC) while they were refused a 2.3 per cent rise suggested by the same group for staff nationally.

Security at Barnet College was stepped up this week after a man was seriously injured in a stabbing in the canteen at its Grahame Park site.
John Skitt, principal of Barnet College, said the intruders were believed to have entered the college by climbing over a fence at the rear of the site.
College principals also patrol the school on a rota system and extra security cameras are due to be installed in the canteen and media studies area.
