Barnoldswick is supposed to have the longest UK place name without using the same letter of the alphabet twice.

I live in Barnoldswick and this web site is aimed at showing you some of the scenes and history of the town.
Barnoldswick is a town situated on the Lancashire and Yorkshire border dating back to a settlement of the Anglo Saxon era, possibly around the 9 th or 10 th century.
This is a very old part of the town.These cottages were built in 1824.They do not have a back door and the second floor in most of them was used as bedroom and for hand looms.

It is said that the Church was built by Cistercian Monks in 1147 after a Norman Nobleman named Henry de'Lacy said that if he recovered from a serious illness he would buld a monastery to the glory of God.
Bancroft Mill was the last of the 13 Mills to be Built in Barnoldswick, it still works today and has been funded by the National Lottery and is now a museum.
