 Baron Aberconway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Baron Aberconway, of Bodnant in the County of Denbighshire, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
In August 1939, the future 3rd Baron was part of a secret delegation sent to Germany by Lord Halifax to offer Adolf Hitler concessions on the assurance that he would not invade Poland.
The 3rd baron died on February 4, 2003 and the title passed to his eldest son, Henry Charles McLaren.

Charles Benjamin Bright McLaren, 1st Baron Aberconway (12_May 1850–23_January 1934) was a Scottish Liberal politician and jurist.
Born in Edinburgh, McLaren was educated at the Heidelberg_University (Heidelberg, Germany), Bonn_University (Bonn, Germany), and Edinburgh_University, from which he graduated with the degree of Master_of_Arts.

Although war was not avoided, and the meeting went down in history as a well-meant failure, Aberconway's inclusion at the age of 26 was an early indication of the influence he was to exert throughout his life.
