In 1562, during the time of Kilravock the 10th, or the Black Baron as he became known, Mary, Queen of Scots stayed in the vaulted fourth floor of the castle on her way to Inverness.
A cousin of the 13th Baron was minister of Nairn from 1660 to 1686 and wrote a history of the Rose family up to 1683.
Tradition claims that during the visit, the Baron brewed him a punch in the large white and blue bowl now situated in the drawing room and played him a violin rendition of an Italian minuet.

In a climate of downsizing, economic uncertainty, and a growing realization that job security is a relic of a rosier past, a Temple researcher reports that frustration, anger and aggression at work are on the rise.
In a survey of 151 managers, Dr. Geddes and her colleague Robert Baron, of Rensselaer Polytechic Institute, found that the average manager had experienced six aggressive acts as a direct result of providing negative feedback.
Dr. Geddes also found that employees often reacted with increased lateness, absenteeism or a work slowdown, refusing to perform assigned tasks or lowering their work productivity.

The Roses had supported the Refor-mation, and despite their hitherto cordial relations with the royal family, the thirteenth Baron opposed the religious policies of Charles I and signed the National Covenant.
