The Viscountcy was created in 1911, along with the titles of Earl Curzon of Kedleston and Baron Ravensdale for George Nathaniel Curzon, eldest son of the fourth Baron Scarsdale.
The Heir Presumptive is Lord Scarsdale's brother, Hon.

The Viscountcy was created in 1911, along with the titles of Earl Curzon of Kedleston and Baron Ravensdale for George Nathaniel Curzon, eldest son of the fourth Baron Scarsdale, who had been created Baron Curzon of Kedleston in the Peerage of Ireland in 1898 and elected an Irish Representative Peer in 1908.
It became extinct with the death of the fourth earl in 1736.
The Earls held the subsidiary title of ''Baron Deincourt of Sutton'' (1624) in the Peerage of England.

Baron Ravensdale, of Ravensdale in the County of Derbyshire, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
It was created on 2 November 1911 for the Conservative politician George Nathaniel Curzon, with remainder, in default of issue male, to his eldest daughter and the heirs male of her body, failing whom to his other daughters in like manner in order of primogeniture.
Curzon was already 4th Baron Scarsdale, but as a barony by patent, it has since passed to his nephew, who is heir male of the 1st Baron; he had also been created, in 1898, Baron Curzon of Kedleston in the peerage of Ireland, the last Irish peerage to be created (extinct at his death).

In 1154-1159, Ralph FitzEudo - one of the wealthiest magnates in Derbyshire - gave Crich Church and its appendages at Lea, Dethick, Ible, Tansley, Wessington, Ogston and Succhethorn (Shuckstone) to the Canons of Darley Abbey - with the consent of Earl Robert Ferrers.
Although in Morleystone and Litchurch, Crich is in the border of Scarsdale and as early as 1215-1222 Hubert FitzRalph had given the Advowson of Scarcliff to the canons of Darley Abbey "for the souls of himself, Edelina his first wife and Sara his second wife".
Eventually the Hundred of Scarsdale passed to the Countess of Kent, Joanna, and when she died without issue in 1442 it passed to Richard Nevile the Earl of Salisbury through his wife Alice.

Situated in the parish of Rostherne, immediately to the north of Knutsford in Cheshire, Tatton Park was in the possession of the Egerton family from the 16th century until the death of Maurice Egerton, the 4th and last Baron Egerton of Tatton, in 1958.
Their eldest son, William Tatton Egerton (1806-1883), inherited the estate and was subsequently raised to the peerage, being created Baron Egerton of Tatton in 1859; this title was passed on to his descendants until the death of the last Baron in 1958.

By 1750, Nathanial Curzon, first Baron Scarsdale, owned the group of two fountains and their basins.
Until the 1940s, these vessels stood in an alcove in the dining room of the Scarsdales' great home, Kedleston Hall, in Derbyshire, England, designed by Robert Adam.

Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire was erected in the 1760`s by the first Baron Scarsdale, on the site of large buildings that had been occupied by the Curzon family for hundreds of years.
Kedleston Hall is the last built of Derbyshire`s great houses, to a design by Robert Adam and it remains one of the finest examples of his work.
Kedleston Hall is now owned by the National Trust, with present members of the Scarsdale family still living in a small part of it.
