"EDWIN SAMUEL MONTAGU (1879-), English politician, second son of the 1st Lord Swaythling, was born Feb. 6 1879 and educated at Clifton, at the City of London School, and at Trinity College, Cambridge.
At Cambridge he was president of the Union and acquired a considerable reputation for ability; and when he entered Parliament in 1906, at the age of 27, as Liberal member for the Chesterton division of Cambridgeshire, he was chosen by 1'Ir.
He married in 1915 Beatrice Venetia, youngest daughter of the 4th Baron Sheffield.

Maurice Koenigswarter ennobled in Austria in 1860 and made baron in 1870; his brother Maximilien-Jules (1817-78), naturalized French in 1848, baron in 1870: Quarterly: 1,Or five arrows sable in a bundle bound gules; 2 and 3, Azure a lion or tongued argent; 4, Or a dove proper holding in its beak an olive branch vert.

"SAMUEL MONTAGU SWAYTHLING, 1ST Baron (1832-1911), British financier, was born at Liverpool Dec. 21 1832, and came of a Jewish family named Samuel, but afterwards took by royal licence the name of Montagu.
Beginning in early life in a very humble way of business he gradually acquired great wealth by enlarging its scope, and he rose to the head of the most important arbitrage house in London.

When Louis became the third Baron Swaythling in 1911 he initiated improvements to the estate, and employed the prominent architect, Leonard Rome Guthrie to redesign the house.
The estate was sold, mostly for housing development, by the third Lord Swaythling in 1948.
The house was occupied until 1969 by a Middlesex County Council boarding school for underprivileged girls.
