"The parish of Wolverton covers an area of 2324 acres, and is bounded on the north by the Ouse, on the east by a small tributary of that river flowing from Calverton, and on the south-west by the Roman road called Watling Street.
New Wolverton in 1844 was separated by the canal from the main highway between Stony Stratford and Newport Pagnell.
WOLVERTON, in the hundred and deanery of Newport, lies about a mile north-east of Stony-Stratford: it was the seat of the barony of Maigno Brito, a powerful Norman, whose descendants took the name of Wolverton: the family became extinct in the male line, in the reign of Edward III.

There are considerable remains of the chapel, which forms part of a farm building, a three-light W. window, and a S. door with ball-flower ornament, which is blocked up, and a few other details.
In the parish church is a monument for Sir Joseph Alston, of Bradwell Abbey, (in the adjoining parish of Wolverton,) who died in 1688: an ancient inscription, between the nave and chancel, shews that the church was dedicated to St. Lawrence.
The church of Bradwell was given, in 1275, to the priory of Tickford; the vicarage, which has been endowed with the great tithes, is now in the gift of the crown.

The item was accompanied by an illustration of Baron Weirwulf (to your left), which I don't think ever saw print in a Charlton book, so could be looked upon as a final piece of Newton fandom artwork.
The early 1970's were a wonderful time for comic fandom and a big part of that was the fine work of Don Newton.

The clubhouse was presented to the members in 1935 by the President Lord Wolverton as a memorial to his father the 5th Baron who was President of the club from 1908 to 1932.
