Oneida Indian Nation - Culture & History - Barren Hill
Barren Hill provides an instructive instance in this respect because here the source and the nature of the bias can be plausibly identified.
A second virtue of the Barren Hill incident as a case study in bias is that here we can infer the motives of those providing the information.
Among the first reports of Barren Hill available to the public was one distributed by Henry Laurens, President of Congress who happened to be in nearby York, Pennsylvania.

For delimiting private plots, the private hill plots (barren sandy land and beach land) allocated to the commune members to plant trees and grasses should be used for a long-term period.
The private hill plots, responsibility hill lands, and all or parts of the forested lands managed in a unified way by the collective were allocated to households (which was called the privately-managed forest land).
After the forest trees on hill land were allocated to the households, some forest farmers wanted to transfer the young and middle-aged plantations in their hands to others due to uncertainty of stable income in the future, urgent need of funds, or anxiousness of changes in forestry policy.

 St Mary's Glacier [saintmarys]
Although the much used wagon and stagecoach road from Central City to Georgetown traversed Yankee Hill at a much earlier time, little serious thought was given to the mining potential of the area until rich gold float was found there, near the surface, in the 1890s.
Both the hill and the town that later grew up on it were named by northern sympathizers during the Civil War.
While this would seem to present a sociological paradox, research has failed to turn up any alternative information beyond the fact that the beer glasses in the local saloon were small while the Denver booze jugglers served their product in 36 ounce glasses.

To the south is spread out the vast settlement block of Maale Adumim, overlooking the road; to the north, the land unfolds to the distant Jerusalem neighbourhoods of Mount Scopus and French Hill.
The answer is to be found in the settlement of Maale Adumim, opposite Hill E1, where residents who would be linked to Jerusalem by the proposed new development are split over its necessity, a reflection of the deeper splits in Israeli society.

The rugged, barren hill is the city's preeminent landmark, rising up over the entrance to the harbor and topped by a craggy castle with a flag fluttering high overhead -- the signal of the name.
The hill secured a spot in history in 1901, when Nobel laureate Guglielmo Marconi received the first wireless transatlantic broadcast -- three short dots indicating the letter S in Morse code, sent from Cornwall, England -- on an antenna raised 120m (400 ft.) on a kite in powerful winds.
From here, you can follow serpentine trails up the hill to the Cabot Tower, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Narrows and the open ocean beyond.
