		The departure of Barry Andrews was seen as a death knell for XTC by some fans at the time (or so I've read); not only was his keyboard playing a signature element of the XTC sound, but his onstage presence was seen as much of the band's personality.
		I wish Barry well,but apart from hearing that he was working with Robert Fripp awhile back I don't know what he's up to.
		...to give barry his just desserts, his work immediately after leaving xtc, the league of gentlemen (with robert fripp), is one of my favourite albums ever.

		Barry Andrews was the keyboardist for XTC on their first two albums, 1978's White Music and Go2.
		Frustrated with the band having too many cooks in the kitchen, Andrews left the group in January of 1979 to go solo and pursue other outlets.
		By the end of 1981, Restaurant for Dogs was no more and Andrews found himself in a new band called Shriekback.

		The story began one day in 1968, when Barry Andrews' motorcycle broke down in an industrial park in Costa Mesa, California.
		The company incorporated as QSC Audio Products, Inc. Pat concentrated on designing and building the amplifiers, Barry took charge of sales and marketing, and Barry's brother John, who had recently obtained his business degree from USC, was brought in to handle the finances.
		And so a trailer was attached to the back of Barry's 1970 El Dorado, and the company made their trade show debut at the 1977 NAMM show.

		Barry Andrews has been one of my favorite pop singers ever since Michael Shannon made a compilation tape for me way back in highschool that just happened to have Shriekback doing "Fish Below the Ice" on it AND a remix of it at that!
		Since then, I've found Andrews' deep crackly baritone voice to be just the evil kind of voice to light a fire under the collective ass of pop music.
		"Haunted Box" was supposedly recorded in Andrews' living room and took many many many practice sessions for him to learn how to semi-flawlessly get through singing AND playing the songs all the way through without any editing, re-working afterwards, which he talks about on the Shriekback website.
