Longyear does admite that, with a little persuassion, he might continue the series, complete the Talman and lenghten the dictionary.
Barry Longyear's trilogy of the war between humans and the alien Dracs was always a fantastic story, philosophically deep while entertaining to read, but today the story is even more timely.
Longyear is a spectacular writer and this is one of his best.

Barry was born May 12, 1942 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and currently resides in New Sharon, Maine, with his lovely wife Jean and a used dog.
Longyear also permits more of the background and horror of the war to show through in this work than he did in "Enemy Mine," although the horror still seems to be at a remove, possibly because once Nicole is blinded all the horror is memory rather than witnessed.
Longyear uses the essays to explain the themes which run through the trilogy in case the reader missed them during the initial reading.

In 1977, at the age of 35, Barry B. Longyear decided that, although he enjoyed being a printer, he hated printing customers.
As part of the preparation to write his first mystery novel, tentatively titled The Hangman's Son, Barry has recently completed training as a private investigator and is a member of a community Joint Resolution Team involved in dealing with first-time juvenile offenders.
My true mission is to go to strange and wonderful places, both dark and humorous, to pursue and grasp important truths about myself, life, and the universe that for some reason are much more understandable in science fiction than they are in the here and now.

Barry B. Longyear (born 1942) is an award-winning US science fiction author and screenwriter.
He is best known for the Hugo and Nebula Award winning short story "Enemy Mine" which was subsequently made into a identically titled movie and novelization in collaboration with David Gerrold.
This story in part helped Longyear to win the John W. Campbell Award for best new writer.

"Enemy Mine" by Barry B. Longyear won the Hugo and Nebula awards for Best Novella presented in 1980; it also won the Locus Poll for Best Novella and on the strength of this early promise the author also won the John W.
This was one of the years when the same works won both Hugo and Nebula in two of the other three categories, Arthur C.
