Barry County is a county located in the state of Michigan.
Barry County was formed by an act of the legislature of the Michigan Territory on April 29, 1829.
In the county the population is spread out with 27.20% under the age of 18, 7.50% from 18 to 24, 29.00% from 25 to 44, 24.60% from 45 to 64, and 11.80% who are 65 years of age or older.

Without the local tax, county officials say, the service is in danger of eliminating practically everything but fixed bus routes because of a continually shrinking budget.
The Barry, Manistee and Alger county operations are the only transit systems on the Michigan Public Transit Association's critical list, which identifies systems that could close within a year without additional funding, according to MPTA officials.
