Composer and pianist Bart Howard, whose "Fly Me To the Moon (In Other Words)" was sent rocketing onto the charts by Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra, died of complications of a stroke on February 23, 2004.
Howard had little problem with that, as the tune made him wealthy enough to cut back on his songwriting and playing.
Howard is survived by Thomas Fowler, his companion of 58 years, and by his sister, Dorothy Lind of Burlington, Iowa.

At the time, Bart was doing a revue of his songs with Rita Gardner, who was leaving the show.
I love the Bart Howard CD because it's so personal, but with the patter and all of the obscure songs, I don't think it's as accessible as the Richard Rodgers one.
