Barton-upon-Humber or Barton is a small town in North Lincolnshire, on the south bank of the River Humber, and at the end of the Humber Bridge.
Barton upon Humber is the residence of Ken H. Harrison who draws Desperate Dan.
Barton was also the home of previously-convicted murderer Robert Elmer Kleason, originally from Austin, Texas, from 1990 until his possible extradition in 2002 [1].

Subsequently the manor of Barton Grange passed to James Allan, Esq., of Blackwell Grange (who died in 1790), as the representative of the Dodsworths, and from him it has descended to the present owner, Sir Henry Havelock Allan, Bart.

 Tug of War
Nine teams were at Barton for the final leg, which saw Holland win three of the 6 weight classes of the day, and taking two second places and a third in the other weights.
The Barton team were very impressive, winning four of the five competitions and taking second' place in the fifth, a truly amazing result after three days of competing, but it shows the standard of conditioning of the team have reached, in readiness for their World Championships adventure.
The Barton team are off to Minnesota USA in September to compete in the Tug of War World Championships, and are currently doing well in their attempt to fund raise £4,000 to help subsidise the trip.

 Yorkshire chucks money at broadband | The Register
Around £1.4 million ($2.2 million) of public sector cash is being used to help bring broadband to Yorkshire and the Humber region.
The nattily-titled 'Broadband Yorkshire and Humber' - an initiative sponsored by the region's development agency and part-backed by European money - is using the cash to provide training and support for 1800 businesses to hook up to broadband.
All the South, West and North Yorkshire exchanges go live for broadband services on 19 November, except Great Ayton and Cullingworth, which are due to be plugged in on 25 February next year, following engineering works to upgrade the network connections to these exchanges.
