The road to the falls is remote and rather risky in parts but the destination is worth the trip.
However the falls during the summer are spectacular.

Driving time is 4 hours one-way, and the strenuous hike to the bottom and back up takes 3 hours -- not a lot of time to be by the falls.

You'll arrive early enough to see falls at the top and walk part way down to a viewpoint called La Ventana if you're ambitious.

Other than hearing the train trip is awesome, I have no goals other than a train trip for Justin (a train virgin), being outside, experiencing the Canyons, and moving fairly slowly (not usually a problem in Mexico...).
Second, Basaseachic is a great place, but I suggest that you save it for your next trip.
