Sabiha Gökçen International Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (IATA: SAW, ICAO: LTFJ) is one of the airports serving Istanbul, Turkey.
It was built because the Atatürk International Airport (on the European side) was not large enough to meet the booming passenger demands (both domestic and international).
Even so, a third airport in the metropolitan Istanbul is necessary since the combined capacity of the three (with the addition of Hazarfen) Istanbul airports (20M international passengers/year 8M domestic passengers/year) will not be able to meet the demand in 2007.
