bats has to start thinking on a grand scale like his counterpart on jutice league unlimited.
I say that a bat villain could take down Supes sans his major weaknesses, but he or she would have to be very clever and/or very well-funded (can afford very high-tech like 150 megaton bombs).
bats will really start to get street cred with superman foes because he hangs with supes.

A prime example is Batman's car, the Batmobile, often depicted as an imposing black car with large tail fins that suggest a bat's wings; another is his chief throwing weapon, the batarang, a bat-shaped boomerang.
The details of the Batman costume have changed repeatedly through the character's evolution, but the most distinctive elements have remained consistent: a dark scalloped cape, with a cowl covering most of his face, with a pair of pointed ears suggestive of those of a bat, and a stylized bat emblem on his chest.

At the time all the Batman stories were incredibly silly with a distinct SF slant - Batman fought aliens and giant robots all the time when not trying to dodge the machinations of Bat Mite.
Batman, thinking quick, made a makeshift mask, hooked a bat symbol to Ace's collar, and told the Commish this was Bathound.
A great source for fifties material that is otherwise unavailable, although the handful of seventies material included (two Neal Adams-drawn tales, “Secret of the Waiting Graves” and “Man or Bat?”, and a fine Denny O’Neil/Irv Novick piece, “The Demon of Gothos Mansion”) is excellent.

The batman in that was teetering on the brink of psychosis - he talked to robin : "rubber bullets huh" as he sprayed bullets from his bat tank.
As to the yellow oval, revisionist history holds that it was added when Batman begun his formal relationship with the police and meant to reflect the Bat signal, so it's absence is justified here.
I grew up hanging upside down on the swing set in a cape my mother sewed for me, passing the Bat Anti-Shark Spray down to my Robin (a Radar O'Reilly look-alike named Alan Eskew).

Even Bat Mite can be an interesting character if he’s properly handled.
Like The Ewoks (fluffy fore runners to the loathsome Jar Jar Binks) or Godzuki from that godawful Godzilla cartoon, or indeed Bat Mite, Krypto and Ace the Bat-hound.
But also funny (and not in a “everyone laughs in a patronising manner at whatever fatuous thing Godzuki does at the end of the episode this wee” kind of way) and dark, and just a little bit sad.
