Motiram Batala, one of the hostages, who managed to escape from the Maoist captivity, told Kantipur Online that seven others were still locked up inside a three-storey house at Kholagaon Village Development Committee-4, located west of Musikot, the district headquarters.
According to Batala, he and four others were taken into hostage immediately after the announcement of cease-fire on January 29.
Batala also said that the rebels have not returned the house and land of some civilians even after the announcement of the cease-fire.

Now, taking note of the alleged high-handedness committed by the Batala police of Gurdaspur district in falsely implicating innocent persons in the murder that never was, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered a CBI inquiry into the matter.
