BY BOY RYAN B. Aklan – The Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan insisted that the Code of Kalantiaw existed and was recognized by foreign scholars and researchers, albeit, contradictory to the claims of the National Historical Institute (NHI).
Earlier, the Aklan SP passed a resolution banking on the position paper of Akeanon historian Roman de la Cruz primarily based on the historical writings of noted historians like Digno Alba, Dr. Jorge C. Bocobo, Dr. Gregorio Zaide, Dr. Eufronio Alip, Dr. Jose Panganiban and Dr.Luis Enriquez.
But, the Aklan SP was also embarrassed to note that ‘Lantiaw’ in Chinese language means ‘Penis’ and thus the legendary lawgiver ‘Ka Lantiaw’ is their ‘Datu Penis’ which statements are uncalled for because the decent and honorable people of NHI should observe civility, as well as refined, civilized and educated language.
