Bath County, the 56th formed in the state, was carved out of Montgomery county, Jan. 15, 1811, and named from the great number of medicinal springs within its borders.
Licking river flows along its entire eastern and northern sides, and its principal tributaries in the county are Flat, Slate, and Salt Lick creeks.
