Despite the Bathurst 1000 race because of the great race it is (Mount Panaorama, 1000 km's etc) I have grown to have very little interest in Austrlian Supercars simply because of the lack of variety (typical Holden and Ford stuff...boring).
If Holden happened to make the Commodore Australias best selling car since about 1997, and Win Bathurst 13 Times in the last 16 years, that just means that they know how to make cars that Australians like, it doesn't mean that because of Bathurst wins people decide to buy their cars.
In 1979, Torana A9X's finished the Bathurst 1000 in first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth place (if memory serves me correctly) and won every round (or was it race?) of the championship, having won all but one the year before.
