Batman Forever - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Batman Forever (1995) is the third of the Batman movies which began with Tim Burton's 1989 version of the character, although it is a major departure from previous entries in the franchise, with the dramatic changes to such things as the cast, design and Danny Elfman's theme, which is scrapped completely.
Film critic Leonard Maltin complimented Kilmer's portrayal when he reviewed the film for his expanding collection of film reviews, as well as being very favorable of the film as a whole.
Batman Forever has been regarded by some as a homoerotic movie after a conservative columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, Gary Willis, (not a movie reviewer) sardonically bashed the movie's campiness and perceived homoerotic motifs ("Batman Forever is a Gay Old Time," Chicago Sun-Times, 1995).

 Encyclopedia: Batman (1966 film)
The conception of Bob Kane, Batman was first introduced in a 1939 issue of "Detective Comics" and went on to become a featured player in the Superman radio series, two 1940s films, several animated and live-action series, a 1966 feature film and various graphic novels.
Batman was released in U.S. theaters on June 23, 1989 by Warner Bros. and soon became the highest grossing movie of the year.
The film was criticized, though, for its dark, grisly nature in comparison with the campy 1960s TV show, and for a Prince-dominated soundtrack which was seen as an obvious marketing tie-in.

Batman and Robin (1997 film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Batman and Robin, directed by Joel Schumacher, is the fourth installment in the comic book-inspired film series initiated by Tim Burton.
The film was mocked for a poor script, over-extending the campy attitude of the previous installment Batman Forever, the poor casting of other "big-name" stars Uma Thurman and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the addition of a poorly portrayed Batgirl, played by Alicia Silverstone.
A new Batman franchise was relaunched in 2005, with Batman Begins, a much darker and more successful film both critically and financially ($366 million worldwide gross as of 09/04/2005), with no continuity to Burton's nor Schumacher's movies.

Batman Begins Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
The film's only real bad scene - a post-action forced two-minute piece that tries to explore the romance between Bruce and Rachel - is the only bit that her limited role requires her to try something different and she unfortunately fails at it (not entirely her fault though as the whole scene is just 'off').
Batman actually lives up to what the central themes of fear and becoming a legend are - letting the dark and his reputation do as much work for him as his fist.
Easily the best "Batman" film by far, the most accurate to the comic, pretty much the best comic adaptation ever, the best film so far this year and one that'll quite frankly be difficult to top.

Filmtracks: Batman & Robin (Elliot Goldenthal)
Batman & Robin: (Elliot Goldenthal) By 1997, the Batman concept that had once captivated audiences with its elegant vision of good versus evil had dissolved into a MTV light show with an excess of characters and total lack of consistency and common sense.
Disgruntled fans were treated to another Batman film which used Elfman's theme in the trailers, but utilized Goldenthal's less coherent music on the viewers of the film.
His debut into the Batman series had been a wishy washy mess of carnival cues, with several lengthy sequences of unlistenable garbage sprinkled throughout heroic orchestral music that never sustained itself long enough to make a difference in the film or on album.

His Batman needs love and understanding while Nolan's wants and needs justice and revenge more than anything else: even the sultry Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes proves to be of little interest to Batman save a chaste kiss at the end of the movie.
That the film is not overwhelmed by its seriousness is a tribute to both the director and a superb cast of both main and supporting actors.
Batman Returns works on so many levels, and, as a boost, is loads of fun to watch(while scarfing down endless gummie bears of course).

The last time we saw Batman in action he was wearing a rubber suit with nipples, had Elle Macpherson for a girlfriend, strolled around a neon-infested landscape, and fought ultimate evil in the form of Arnold Schwarzenegger (his weapon of choice being puns).
Those accustomed to the sweetened thrills of the earlier films are in for a rude awakening with "Begins," for it desires to construct a solid initial base for the character, not paint the town red with gags and style in a quest to keep the story mindlessly moving forward.
Nolan's film is more fierce and demonstrative in brood, which gives the film oodles of gravitas and energy, helped along significantly by the propulsive score from Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, which oddly eschews traditional heroic themes.

Though it takes until the film’s second act to fully take flight, what’s immediately striking about director Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins is that it makes comparisons to any previous film versions of Batman and actors to wear the cowl utterly irrelevant.
Beside a tiny nod to the first Batman film, Nolan and Goyer don’t play to any of the superhero conventions established over the last 15 years.

Batman: (Danny Elfman) This was Elfman's breakthrough score, catapulting him into the mainstream scoring business.
Many traditionally classical composers may find fault with Elfman's dark and uniquely strange score for Batman (or, for that matter, any of Elfman's scores), but it doesn't change the fact that Batman was one of the highpoints for soundtracks of the 1980's.
The main theme is the best Batman theme ever conceived --and it is a great shame, with due respect to Elliot Goldenthal, that the Batman series abandoned the great theme halfway through.
