Batman (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Batman's dual identity was that of the debonair millionaire Bruce Wayne, who lived outside the city in "stately Wayne Manor." He lived with his youthful ward Dick Grayson, also known as Robin (Burt Ward), faithful butler Alfred (Alan Napier), and Aunt Harriet Cooper (Madge Blake).
The series is notable for its use of cliffhanger endings and the Batclimb cameo, which allowed top celebrities of the 1960s to appear in a small part.

Batman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Batman (originally referred to as the Bat-Man and still sometimes as the Batman) is a DC Comics fictional character and superhero who first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939.
Batman's evolution continues through the late 1980s, notably with the 1988's "Batman: A Death in the Family" storyline, for which DC Comics created a 900 number for readers to call to vote on whether Jason Todd lived or died.
Batman's first intercompany crossover was the 1981 Marvel and DC Presents: Batman vs the Incredible Hulk, in which the two fight the Joker and the Shaper of Worlds.

Batman has many familiar forms, and not just because his alter-ego, millionaire Bruce Wayne, is as stylish and glamorous as his darker half is mysterious and brooding.
When Batman made his debut in issue #27 of Detective Comics, swinging from a rope with a crook clutched under his arm, the occasion was momentous not because of the superpowers being demonstrated, but for the character of the hero.
The TV show (still featured nightly on cable), along with the 1966 movie, may have been all bright colors, tight costumes and choreographed fights with the words "POW!" and "BAM!" exploding onto the screen every time the heroes landed a punch, but it couldn't repress Batman's essential darkness forever.

This time she came to save the show from falling ratings and not to protect Batman and Robin against accusations of a homoerotic relationship, as was the case for her creation by the comic book writers in the mid-1950s.
Furthermore, soon after the show was canceled, the character's comic series took on a dark and deadly serious tone that was reminiscent of the original comics in the late 1930's as a reaction to the TV show's light touch.
