I can't say I like the idea of battery farming but I have never been inside one so apart from the horror stories I have seen in the press/TV I can't say I have enough knowledge to voice too strong an opinion on the subject.
Mink farms have been closed down here due to activists etc but they have opened up abroad and again the conditions are not what they would be here.
Factory farming is now being 'exported' as a concept to some third world countries as an answer to their food shortages.
