Minor league baseball came to Battle Creek, Michigan in 1995.
When the Yankees signed their PDC, the name of the team became the Battle Creek Yankees.

During the 70-game home season, the Yankees have scheduled a host of other promotions including fireworks and giveaways of caps, cards and autographed baseballs and even a few games where tickets are free.
Monday night, when the temperature dipped to 38 degrees before the end of the Yankee's 8-6 win over Fort Wayne, paid attendance was 551 but only 238 people were in the seats.

Battle Creek - Kyle Boyer went 4-4 with an RBI and Sean Marshall(1-0) worked six shutout innings while fanning seven as the Lugnuts 1-0 took care of the Battle Creek Yankees(0-1) by a 3-0 count in front of 1,360 fans at C.O. Brown Stadium.
Marshall and Yankees starter Chase Wright pitched shutout ball for the first five innings before the Lugnuts got on the board in the sixth when Brian Dopirak led off with a double, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Drew Larsen's sac fly.
The series continues tomorrow when the Lugnuts send righty Ronald Bay to the mound against Battle Creek's T.J. Beam.
